Ranchi -  Azim Premji University has announced the establishment of its third campus in Ranchi, Jharkhand, marking an important step towards strengthening higher education in Eastern India. The Ranchi campus reflects the University’s focus on socially engaged and context based education. It will connect academic learning with real world-issues related to education, development, public health, governance and sustainability, especially in Jharkhand and neighbouring regions.

Sharing the vision for new campus, Zulfiquar Haider, Vice-Chancellor Designate of the Ranchi campus said that the University aims to work closely with the social and developmental needs of the region. The campus will offer programmes suited for diverse learners, including working professionals and will engage with the rich cultures and knowledge systems of Adivasi and other communities of Jharkhand. 

Located at Itki, the 150-acre campus is being developed as a fully residential facility with the modern classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, and hostels for the students and faculty. Plans also include a teaching hospital and medical college.The campus will follow sustainable practices such as energy-efficient systems, rainwater harvesting and water treatment facilities. 

The Ranchi campus will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate and continuing education programmes in areas like Development, Education, Economic, Public Health, Climate Change, and sustainability. In the current academic year, it will start with MA programmes in Applied Economics and Development, along with postgraduate diplomas and short certificate courses. 

The university stated that the new campus continues its mission of contributing to a just, equitable and sustainable society through education research, and public engagement..
