New Delhi.: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory regarding biometric verification exceptions for candidates appearing in the NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026.
The advisory aims to ensure a smooth and stress-free examination process, particularly for candidates facing issues during biometric authentication on exam day.
Key Highlights of the Advisory
Mandatory Biometric Verification:
- All candidates are required to undergo biometric verification after frisking and before entering the examination hall.
Exception Cases Allowed:
Candidates will still be allowed to enter the exam hall even if biometric verification fails due to:
- Device hardware issues
- Poor biometric quality (e.g., fingerprint mismatch)
- Connectivity issues with UIDAI
- Physical inability to provide biometric data
Undertaking Required:
Such candidates must submit a written undertaking, the format of which will be provided at the examination centre.
No Disturbance During Exam
- NTA has clearly stated that candidates will not be disturbed during the examination hours (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) for biometric procedures. For PwD/PwBD candidates, this extends up to 6:00 PM.
Objective of the Advisory
- The move ensures that no candidate is unfairly denied entry due to technical glitches or unavoidable biometric issues, while still maintaining examination integrity through alternative verification measures.
- Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre well in advance and follow all instructions issued by NTA.
