Why NTA Has Opened This Window
According to a public notice from June 14, 2026, a Bank Account Re-confirmation or Correction Window has opened to NEET (UG) 2026 exam takers for whom May 3, 2026, was not the first date to take the exam. The NTA is processing the refund for those exam takers. Exam takers had an opportunity to provide bank account information either during exam registration or selection.
Incomplete, incorrect account information, or account information that was inconsistent with the registrant’s personal information was identified by NTA during bank account information verification. NTA has also received a number of requests from candidates for an opportunity to clarify bank details and ensure that the refund is not credited to a hostage account.
This opening of the correction window is especially important to the hundreds of thousands of NEET UG candidates whose exam was cancelled and subsequently rescheduled for a later date, for re-examination. Refund bank account details is also critical to NTA. A refund could be delayed or even penalized if the bank account details provided to NTA are incorrect.
Steps for OTP Based Authentication
To provide an additional security layer for candidates’ financial data, NTA has made OTP-based Two-Factor Authentication mandatory. First, candidates have to log in to the NEET (UG) 2026 portal using their Application Number and Password, and then complete OTP-based Two-Factor Authentication using the SMS sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number. After completing the above-mentioned verification, candidates will be able to view, verify, update, and confirm their bank account details.
Once candidates log into the portal, they will be able to view various options to provide bank account details for payment, such as the account holder’s name, bank account number (with confirmation), name of the bank, and the bank’s IFSC code. NTA has also provided candidates the option to provide a cancelled bank cheque or the first page of the candidate’s bank passbook as a bank payment verification support document.
Account payment details of the beneficiary will be the sole account for payment refund. Candidates have to ensure that all the payment bank details are filled correctly and demand a refund. Candidates also have to maintain the confidentiality of their OTP and other personal details and are requested not to share them with anyone under any circumstances.
Why Students Must Not Postpone This Step
There is one detail that applicants cannot afford to overlook: the deadlines associated with this process. As stated in the announcement, the updates to bank account details must be completed prior to downloading the Admit Card for NEET (UG) 2026. Thus, this is not an optional bureaucracy that candidates can afford to complete at their convenience. It is related to obtaining the entry ticket for the rescheduled examination, which is set for June 21, 2026.
Due to the expected number of candidates that will log in at the same time, students are advised to complete this verification well in advance of the Admit Card download time to avoid last-minute server crashes or other related problems. Any error in the bank details will result in the refund for the entry ticket being delayed or cancelled. Therefore, candidates should review the details before the final submission.
As instructed, candidates may contact the NTA Helpdesk at 011-40759000, 011-69227700, or email at neetug2026@nta.ac.in. NTA also instructed students to check the official site, https://neet.nta.nic.in, for updates concerning NEET (UG) 2026.
