NEET UG 2025 Registration Begins: Key Changes in Exam Pattern and Latest Updates

Registration for NEET UG 2025 has started on the official NEET website: neet.nta.nic.in.


New Delhi. : NEET UG 2025 registration is now open on the official website. This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced several changes in the exam pattern and rules. Here’s everything you need to know.

  • 180 compulsory questions will be asked, including 45 in Physics and Chemistry and 90 in Biology.

NEET UG 2025 Registration and Exam Updates

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the registration process for NEET UG 2025 on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications. Along with the registration, NTA has also released the NEET UG information bulletin, syllabus, and updated exam pattern.
  • To ensure a smoother examination process, NTA has implemented several changes this year, addressing past concerns. Notably, the NEET UG application form number and candidate age will no longer be considered for tie-breaking criteria.

NEET UG 2025: Exam Pattern Changes
The NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode, with significant modifications to the pattern:

  • No Optional Questions: The optional questions in Section B, introduced during the COVID-19 period, have been removed.
  • Fixed Question Structure: Candidates must answer 180 compulsory questions.

Subject-wise Distribution:

  • Physics – 45 questions
  • Chemistry – 45 questions
  • Biology – 90 questions

In the case of a tie between candidates, the ranking will be determined as follows:

  • Higher marks in Biology
  • Higher marks in Chemistry
  • Higher marks in Physics
  • Fewer incorrect answers overall
  • Fewer incorrect answers in Biology
  • Fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry
  • Fewer incorrect answers in Physics

For the first time, an expert committee will randomly resolve tie cases if the standard methods fail.

Exam Centre Selection and Guidelines

  • Candidates must select at least three preferred cities for their exam centre, within the state of their permanent or fixed address.
  • Exam centres will open three hours before the test, with the last entry allowed until 1:30 PM.
  • The exam will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Candidates must upload a recent passport-sized photograph taken after January 1, 2025, while filling out the application form.

Courses Offered Through NEET UG 2025
NEET UG 2025 scores will be used for admission to various medical and allied courses, including:

  • MBBS and BDS programs
  • BVSc & AH (Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry)
  • AYUSH Courses (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS) under the Indian System of Medicine
  • BHMS (Homeopathy) under the National Commission for Homoeopathy

Additionally, candidates aspiring for the BSc Nursing program at the Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals (MNS aspirants) must qualify for NEET UG 2025.
