Answering the postgraduate examination, NEET PG, has become a way of life for many medical professionals now, as they await results for this year. With around 2.65 lakh applicants this year, the number of students looking for their answer key is growing exponentially this year. The candidate response sheets are yet to be published, and the NBEMS has not released any information or answer key for 2026 yet, but both are expected to be out soon.

The NEET PG answer key for 2026 is considered to be one of the most important posts for medical students because of the new transparent order in the post examinations procedure due to the Supreme Court directing the publication of answer keys for NEET PG. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET PG exam for around 2.65 lakh candidates on the 30th of August, 2026. In the official examination records of the candidates, 2,65,980 out of the total 2,73,096 candidates registered for the exam appeared.

NEET PG Answer Key 2026

As of September 9, the official release of the answer key by NBEMS this year is pending. There is a growing expectation among students for the answer key to come out on the 10th of September.

With the answer key in their possession, students will receive the following information:

• Question ID Number
• Correct answer
• Score for that particular answer
• Students' response to that question

The answer key will be provisional. Students will be able to access it after they log in to the respective candidate section of the official website of NBEMS NEET PG. Post submission, candidates will either agree with the answer key and the score that was provided or appeal against it. If the answer key is contested, then a new key is basically published and the candidates are awarded their scores based on that answer key.

A section of the Supreme Court's order dated April 29, 2025, directed the examination conducting authority to publish the raw scores, answer keys, and the normalisation formula for the NEET PG examination. NEET PG 2026 Response Sheet: How Candidates Check It

Candidates need to follow these steps:

• Connect to the official website of NBEMS.
• Go to the NEET PG 2026 section.
• Click on the applicant login or application link.
• Enter your login credentials.
• Click on the answer key and response sheet link.
• Match question IDs, official answers, and marked responses.
• Save or download this information.

The interface may change when NBEMS activates this. So, candidates need to follow the instructions given on the official website instead of following unofficial links.

NEET PG 2026 Exam Response Sheet

The exam had 180 (four) multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 720 marks. Negative marking is applicable. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The score can be estimated as follows:

• Score expected = (Correct answers x 4) – (Incorrect answers x 1)
• Unattempted questions will not attract negative marking.

NEET PG Result 2026 Date

NBEMS expects to release the NEET PG Result by 30th September, 2026; however, NBEMS may release the result before the given time. The result date forms a part of NBEMS's examination schedule, and thus, NBEMS may release the result before the schedule.

It is also important to note that just because NBEMS would release the probable answer key, it doesn't necessarily mean that the result is also available. The provisional answer key would let the applicants know their approximate performance, and the official result would then declare the performance and the qualifying status.

A separate re-examination was conducted on September 5 for 2,445 candidates who were affected by a power outage at two of the examination centres in Jaipur.
