New Delhi, September 18, 2026: The Manodarpan Cell of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) organised a two-day Teacher Orientation Programme on “Bhartiya Wisdom/Traditions and Mental Health Practices in School Education” on September 17 and 18, 2026.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Prof. Prabhat K. Mishra, Head, Department of Education in Psychology and Foundations of Education (DEPFE), and Prof. Vinod K. Shanwal, Incharge, Manodarpan Cell.
The orientation focused on strengthening teachers’ understanding and preparedness to facilitate the effective implementation and integration of Bharatiya wisdom traditions and mental well-being practices in schools.
Teachers from PM SHRI Schools Participate
Teachers from PM SHRI Demonstration Multipurpose Schools located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Mysuru participated in the programme.
Teachers from PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Umroi Cantt, Shillong, also participated in the two-day orientation.
The programme brought together teachers from schools in different locations to focus on the integration of Bharatiya wisdom traditions and mental health practices within school education.
Focus on Mental Well-Being and Bharatiya Wisdom
The orientation was designed to strengthen teachers’ understanding of Bharatiya wisdom and traditions and their preparedness to incorporate relevant mental well-being practices in school settings.
The programme focused on supporting teachers in facilitating the effective implementation of these approaches as part of school education.
The initiative was conducted through the Manodarpan Cell, which is associated with NCERT's work related to mental health and well-being in the education environment.
