Why Is Down Syndrome Awareness Important in Education?

Down syndrome, or Trisomy 21, is a genetic condition that occurs due to the presence of an additional full or partial copy of chromosome 21. The impacts of this condition vary and may not always be the same in individuals having Down syndrome.

There may be variations in an individual's development, learning, communication and health. Each individual has his/her own set of strengths and needs, and decisions about education and care should be taken keeping the individual's needs in view

In schools, inclusive education means various opportunities for all learners to study, communicate and participate fully in various activities of the school.
