New Delhi: National Institute on Educational Planning and Administration is going to organize a national webinar on "Social Responsibility and Community Engagement in Higher Education Institutions" on August 4 and 5, 2022 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. The webinar is organized to discuss the policies and practices of social responsibility and community engagement in higher education institutions.

The National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 recommends that there should be a "substantial investment in a strong, vibrant public education system as well as the encouragement and facilitation of true philanthropic private and community participation". The vision given in the NEP for Higher Education Institutions (HEIS) is that of a multidisciplinary institution of higher learning that offers undergraduate and graduate programmes, with high quality teaching, research, and community engagement for attainment of a holistic and multidisciplinary education, flexible and innovative curricula and projects in the areas of community engagement and service, environmental and value-based education. Institutional leaders should aim to create a culture of excellence and develop Institutional Development Plans that will motivate and incentivize such outstanding activities.

The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration wishes to support the initiatives of the Government of India by unfolding and discussing critical dimensions of university-community linkage through a workshop on "Social Responsibility and Community Engagement in Higher Education Institutions: Policies and Practices".

The main objective of the workshop is to provide a platform for sharing ideas and experiences related to "fostering social responsibility and community engagement in higher education institutions" as envisaged in the National Education Policy 2020.
