Haryana : Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Central Library celebrated National Librarians’ Day on August 12, 2025, to mark the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of Library Science in India. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Haryana (CUH), who paid a floral tribute to Dr. Ranganathan and highlighted his enduring contributions to the Indian library system. He said that Dr. Ranganathan’s contributions to the Indian library system are immense. We must adopt his principles to transform our libraries into true centers of learning.
On this significant occasion, the Vice Chancellor also released a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and Central University of Haryana, paving the way for the migration of the University’s repository content to the NDLI server, thereby enhancing global access to CUH’s academic resources.
The Vice Chancellor felicitated Dr. Santosh C. H., University Librarian, on his appointment as a Member of the Advisory Board of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). He also felicitated Dr. Vinita Malik, Information Scientist, for winning the Best Research Paper Presentation Award on an international platform for the third consecutive time.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the proactive efforts of the Library staff and stressed the importance of cultivating a reading culture. He also felicitated the staff for their enthusiastic participation in various training programmes conducted by the Library. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and researchers across departments.
