Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) celebrated a landmark academic milestone during its ninth convocation ceremony held in Dharamshala. The event was graced by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, who delivered an inspiring address on the theme of "Rashtra Pratham" (Nation First). The convocation was not just a celebration of academic completion but a powerful testament to the rising influence of women in higher education, as they dominated the awards ceremony.

In an extraordinary display of academic excellence, women students swept the majority of the top honors. Of the 32 gold medals awarded during the ceremony, women received 23, showcasing their growing empowerment and dedication to scholarly pursuits. The Vice-President lauded this achievement, noting that the majority of the 700 meritorious students recognized were women. He emphasized that their success reflects a changing India, where women are playing a pivotal role in the nation's progress and intellectual growth.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-President Radhakrishnan exhorted the youth to adopt a "Nation First" mindset in all their endeavors. He urged the graduating class to commit to a drug-free lifestyle, noting that a healthy, disciplined youth population is the backbone of India's future. He described Himachal Pradesh as both "Dev Bhoomi" (Land of Gods) and "Veer Bhoomi" (Land of Braves), acknowledging the state's deep spiritual roots and its immense contribution to the Indian Armed Forces.

The Vice-President also focused on the evolution of the Indian education system. Invoking the legacy of ancient centers of excellence like Nalanda and Takshashila, he remarked that these institutions thrived because their educators remained lifelong learners. He called upon modern universities to prioritize faculty development and interdisciplinary research. He specifically commended CUHP for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its focus on "Swadeshi Chintan" (indigenous thought), citing the university's efforts to translate academic works into local languages like Dogri and Punjabi as a vital step toward reclaiming India's intellectual traditions.

The current era offers unprecedented opportunities for India's youth. With the government's vision of "Viksit Bharat @2047," the focus has shifted toward creating a globally competitive higher education ecosystem. The integration of digital resources and interdisciplinary research allows students to break traditional silos and innovate at the intersection of various fields. Furthermore, initiatives like community labs are bridging the gap between academic theory and rural realities, preparing students for social entrepreneurship and grassroots leadership. As India continues to strengthen its partnerships between state and central institutions, the youth find themselves at the forefront of a technological and intellectual revolution, where their skills are not just locally relevant but globally sought after.

At EduAdvice, we believe that education is the most powerful tool for national transformation. The stellar performance of women at the CUHP convocation is a beacon of hope and a reminder that merit knows no bounds when given the right platform. We encourage all students to heed the Vice-President's call—strive for excellence, stay grounded in your values, and always keep the nation's progress at the heart of your ambitions. Your journey does not end with a degree; it begins with the responsibility to contribute to a better, more developed India. Stay focused, stay inspired, and keep reaching for the stars.
