The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports India will organise a nationwide “Nari Shakti Vandan Run” on April 17 and 18, 2026, across seven major cities—Delhi, Cuttack, Patna, Mumbai, Indore, Bengaluru, and Jaipur. The initiative is part of efforts to promote women-led development and active citizen participation, especially among youth and students.
The event will see participation from a wide range of groups, including students, NSS volunteers, sportspersons, and young professionals. Organised in collaboration with platforms like National Service Scheme (NSS) and Sports Authority of India (SAI), the run aims to encourage young people to engage with themes of gender equality and social responsibility. Participants will take part in a 2–3 kilometre run, followed by a pledge on women empowerment and certificate distribution. The programme also includes an inauguration ceremony and awareness sessions, making it not just a fitness activity but a platform for social awareness and civic engagement.
The initiative is being held alongside a special session of Parliament focusing on women’s representation and governance, further highlighting its relevance in the current national discourse. By linking youth participation with larger democratic values, the event seeks to build awareness among students about their role in shaping an inclusive society, offering an opportunity to participate in a national movement, promote fitness, and support gender equality. Such initiatives reflect the growing emphasis on combining education with social awareness, leadership, and community involvement.
