Kohima, 10th July 2026: A big celebration took place yesterday at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima. The School Education Department of Nagaland organized a special program. In this event, they felicitated 56 very bright and meritorious students. All these students belongs to the indigenous Scheduled Tribe communities of the state. They performed excellently in their HSLC Examination 2026. This special scheme is called the Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship Fellowship (CMMSF). Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, who is the Advisor for School Education, attended the function as the chief guest and distributed the certificates and cash rewards to everyone.
The Reason Behind CMMSF Scheme :
The main idea of this fellowship is to help poor and bright students. Many times, brilliant kids stops studying after class 10 because their family do not have enough money. The state government want to change this thing. Under this scheme, the selected 56 students will get financial help directly from the government. This money will help them to buy books, pay school fees, and manage other expenses for higher studies. The government think that if they support these young minds now, these kids will bring a great name for Nagaland in the future.
Big Rules for Keeping the Money :
But there is a condition to keep getting this fellowship. The government will not just give money every year without checking. This fellowship is for 5 years total, but students must perform good every single year. The rule say that every student need to score at least 80% marks in their annual exams. If someone score less than 80%, their fellowship might get cancelled. Dr. Yhome said in his speech that students should not get relaxed after winning this award. They have to work hard daily so that they does not lose this great chance.
What the Chief Guest Said :
During the event, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome gave a very encouraging speech to all the students and parents. He said that education is the only way to change the society. He also praise the parents for supporting their children despite facing many financial problems. The Advisor told the audience that the government is trying their best to improve school facilities in every village of Nagaland. He also requested the teachers to give extra attention to students who comes from weak backgrounds so more kids can clear exams with good marks next year.
Joyful Atmosphere and Student Reactions :
The parents and students were looking very happy and proud at the venue. Many students said that this fellowship have removed a big tension from their heads. Now they can choose science or commerce streams without worrying about the expensive fees. One student who got the award said that his parents works in farms and it was impossible for them to afford coaching classes, but now this money will change his life completely. The ceremony ended with a group photo session where all the 56 students holded their certificates high with big smiles.
