Mumbai : The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced the postponement of several key examinations following heavy rains and flood-like conditions across multiple districts of the state. The decision was taken in view of safety concerns and connectivity issues affecting thousands of candidates.
Civil Services Prelims Rescheduled
The Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Preliminary Examination 2025, earlier set for September 28, will now be conducted on November 9, 2025. An official notification stated that severe rainfall has disrupted transportation in many villages and talukas, prompting the government to request a reschedule to ensure no candidate is left behind.
Impact on Other Examinations
The development also affects the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2025, which was originally scheduled for November 9. The Commission clarified that the new date will be announced later.
Additionally, competitive examinations for technical and non-technical posts in government medical and dental colleges and affiliated hospitals, slated for September 25 and 26, have also been postponed.
Reason Behind the Decision
According to MPSC, the decision followed alerts from the State Meteorological Department predicting continued heavy rainfall in several districts, including Solapur. Flood-like conditions have disrupted connectivity and public transport, making it unsafe for candidates to reach examination centres.
The Commission emphasized that rescheduling reflects its commitment to fairness and accessibility: “This step ensures aspirants have equal opportunity to appear for the examinations without facing undue hardship.”
Next Steps
The state government has assured candidates that revised dates for all affected exams will be declared soon to minimize disruption in the examination cycle.
