MPPSC Starts Big Recruitment Drive for Higher Education Faculty

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) Plans to start the Phase I Examination for the Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 on July 12; the recruitment drive for the highest education in the state is one of the largest in the past couple of years. Three phases of recruitment have been announced by the Commission, while phases two and three are scheduled for August 2 and August 30, respectively. The MPPSC Examination Calendar states that the recruitment is expected to fill the faculty positions of government colleges and higher educational institutions in Madhya Pradesh.

A lot of interest has been generated in the recruitment and academic aspirants of government colleges. Recruitment information states that hundreds of vacancies are available in government colleges for the subjects Hindi, English, History, Geography, Commerce, Political Science, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Law, Geology, Sanskrit, and Yogic Science, among others. Reports state that the total number of vacancies is about 949 and that it is one of the largest recruiting drives of faculty by the Commission. The examination will be the first major screening and will be in an objective format. Candidates will be called for the interview for the Assistant Professor (Higher Education Department) position only after they clear the examination and the other formalities of document verification. The final merit list will be published after the other formalities are completed.

 

Eligibility Requirements, Exam Structure, & Selection Process Overview

To be eligible to take the MPPSC Assistant Professor Exam 2026, candidates need a Master's degree in the corresponding subject with at least 55% marks from an approved institution, along with a qualifying score in the National Eligibility Test (NET) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) of Madhya Pradesh.

NET is not required for candidates with a PhD degree. For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and physically challenged candidates, the qualifying score in the above exams is relaxed to 50%. The age of the candidate should be between 21 and 40 years, with relaxation for candidates from reserved categories and those domiciled in Madhya Pradesh, as per the rules of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The exam is held in the Offline OMR-based mode. There are two papers, with a total of 800 marks. Paper I of General Studies has 50 questions with a total of 200 marks and has to be completed in one hour. It includes history, geography, politics, economy, and culture of Madhya Pradesh, along with national current affairs and basic ICT (Information and Communication Technology) awareness. Paper II is the subject paper and has 150 questions with a total of 600 marks, and has to be completed in three hours. There are 4 marks for each correct answer. All questions are in Hindi and English.

 

Information Regarding Admit Cards, Interview Rounds, and Salary of Shortlisted Candidates

Candidates taking part in Phase I on July 12, note that the admit card for the English subject group is available from July 2, 2026. It is the board’s policy to issue the admit card 10 days prior to the examination date. Candidates must access their admit card at mppsc.mp.gov.in using their registration number & date of birth. Candidates must bring the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination centre.

The selection process has a total of 2 stages. The candidates who qualify the written examination are called for an interview, which is of 100 marks. The final merit list is prepared from the scores of the written examination, interview and document verification. Candidates at the time of verification must bring their original education certificates, proof of NET or SLET qualification, proof of category, where applicable and the domicile certificate. The appointed candidates will be at Level 10 as per the 7th Pay Commission, and their pay will be Rs 57,700 per month, with other allowances as per the rules of the Madhya Pradesh government services.
