New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has issued a clarification regarding the availability of Grade 6 textbooks and the continuity of the curriculum for other classes.
-
Grade 6 Textbooks Availability: All Grade 6 textbooks will be made available by NCERT within July 2024. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting a 2-month delay, the ministry has confirmed that the correct timeline ensures the availability within this month. To facilitate a smooth transition for both teachers and students from the old to the new curriculum, NCERT has already introduced a month-long bridge program in all 10 subject areas for Grade 6. This program is currently being utilized for teaching, providing adequate hands-on experiences under the experiential learning framework.
-
Curriculum Continuity for Other Classes: As per CBSE’s circular no. Acad. 29/2024 dated March 22, 2024, there are no changes to the existing curriculum or textbooks for all classes other than 3 and 6. Schools have been advised to continue using the same textbooks as they did in the previous academic year (2023-24), to dispel any misleading information that has been circulating.
-
Textbook Supply for South Indian States: The Regional Production and Distribution Centre (RPDC) in Bangalore, which caters to all South Indian States including Tamil Nadu, has reported that the title-wise demand for Class 9 and 11 textbooks has been met by NCERT's Publication Division. No shortages have been reported by RPDC Bangalore, ensuring a steady supply of required textbooks for these classes.
This clarification aims to address and correct any misinformation regarding the availability and continuity of educational resources, ensuring that both educators and students are well-prepared for the academic year.
