Delhi - Jamia Millia Islamia has achieved yet another signifucant sporting milestone as its Archery Team (Men and Women) emerged victorious at the 46th Delhi State Archery Championship 2025-26, thereby earning the conveted State Championship title in the second consecutive year. 

The championship was organised by the Delhi Archery Association from January 30 to February 1, 2026, at the Yamuna Sports Complex, New Delhi. Demonstrating exceptional skill and consistency, the Jamia archers secured a total of 18 medals in the Senior Category.

The medal winners included Jagriti Bansal, a student of B.A. (Hons.) Social Work (1st Year), who won four Gold, three Silver, and one Bronze medal; Abhishek Kumar, B.A. (Hons.) Mass Media Hindi (1st Year), who secured four Gold and one Silver medal; Zubair Khan, B.A. (Hons.) Social Work (2nd Year), who won two Gold, four Silver, and two Bronze medals; and Aman Gupta, B.A. (Hons.) Social Work (Semester I), who claimed one Gold medal.

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Mazhar Asif, honoured the victorious team members and congratulated them for their exceptional performance and championship victory.

Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia, praised the archers for securing the title in consecutive years and extended his best wishes for their future tournaments. Mohd. Mahfuzul Haque, Chairman of the Games & Sports Committee, also congratulated the players and acknowledged their dedication and hard work.

Nafis Ahmed , Honorary Director of Ganes and Sports, commended the athletes for enhancing tbe University’s sporting regulationand expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the registrar for the unwavering support. Additionally, Mohammad Abid and Arunesh Kumar Singh, President of the Archery Club, congratulated the students and appreciated the establishment of a dedicated Archery Range at the university’s Sports Complex.

The achievement highlights Jamia Millia Islamia's growing excellence in sports and its commitment to nurturing Athletic talent alongside academic excellence.
