May 2025 : Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is proud to announce the theatrical release of the film, Chidiya, a directorial debut of its alumnus Mr. Mehran Amrohi. Mehran is a 2002 batch B. Tech. Computer Engineering graduate of Jamia Millia Islamia. His journey from engineering at Jamia to directing a nationally released and internationally recognized film is a compelling testament to the cross-disciplinary potential and spirit of creativity that JMI cultivates. 

Being his first written and directed film, Chidiya is a heartfelt children's film featuring acclaimed actors like Vinay Pathak and Amrutha Subhash. The film is set for its theatrical release on 30th May, 2025.  Mehran's film has been celebrated at prestigious international as well as national film festivals where it won several recognitions, including, Best Debutant Director in South Asia IFF-New York, and also at Dadasaheb Phalke IFF New Delhi. The film also received the 2nd Best Film Award at Golden Elephant ICFFI Hyderabad. Jamia feels proud of this achievement of its alumni and wishes Mehran and his film the very best.
