ENVISION 3.0, the flagship event of IIM Calcutta’s PGPEX-VLM program, was successfully held on August 2, 2025, bringing together eminent leaders from across industries to share their insights on transformative trends shaping Indian manufacturing and business operations.
The summit featured a series of thought-provoking keynote addresses and engaging panel discussions, offering participants valuable perspectives on the technological, strategic, and human dimensions of manufacturing excellence.

The programme started with Prof. Sudhir Jaiswall, Chairperson, PGPEX-VLM welcoming all dignitaries and emphasising the critical role of the PGPEX-VLM program in advancing India’s manufacturing vision. He underscored the importance of digital transformation and supply chain resilience in shaping the future of Indian industry and highlighted the need for education to align closely with industry practices. Stressing the power of continuous learning, he noted that true transformation lies in driving lasting change in human behaviour, resilience, and organizational culture. Prof. Jaiswall concluded by commending the student organizing team and extended his best wishes for the event’s success. Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Director, IIM Calcutta congratulated the organizing team and reaffirmed the importance of experiential learning in management education. He emphasized that curriculum and training must evolve alongside industry expectations, particularly in the domain of human resource development. Highlighting the need for stronger industry- academia collaboration, he emphasized that effective learning must result in permanent behavioral change among future leaders.
As the Chief Guest, Mr. Asutosh Rath, Executive Director – National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) delivered a compelling keynote on India’s evolving industrial landscape, highlighting national initiatives like Make-in-India, the PLI scheme, and Viksit Bharat. He stressed the goal of raising manufacturing’s GDP share to 25%, citing its multiplier effect on job creation. Mr. Rath emphasized resilience as adaptability amid global disruptions and identified metals and mining as strategic growth enablers. Key strategies included diversified supply chains, localization, and flexible production. He underlined the role of IoT, AI, and skilled manpower, sharing NALCO’s inclusive training efforts in Koraput. He concluded by urging increased R&D investment and stronger industry-government collaboration to position India as a globally competitive manufacturing hub.
