Manipur CM Opens New Library at Heirangoithong High School

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated a modern library building at Heirangoithong High School and reviewed ongoing construction works at Singjamei Chingamakha High School in Imphal West. Highlighting significant improvements in student enrolment and board examination performance across state public schools over the past six years, the Chief Minister emphasized the vital role of school development committees and dedicated teaching staff in elevating education standards across Manipur.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated a brand new library building at Heirangoithong High School in Imphal West on Sunday. The main aim of opening this new facility is to build proper reading habits among young children and give them good study materials inside the school campus. During the inauguration event, many senior officers from government department was present along with school teachers and students. High level officers like Secretary of Manipur Public Service Commission Neeta Arambam and Director of Education Ng Bhogendra Meitei also joined the program to support this new project.

The Chief Minister spoke to the gathering and said that government school facilities in Manipur is getting much better in last five to six years. He told that when children get access to books and quiet reading space, their mind open up and they learn new things very fast. Earlier, Heirangoithong High School was not having enough facilities for students, but now state government have built this modern library so children does not have to search books outside school. Local people and school development committee expressed very high happiness because this long waiting demand of local students have finally been completed by education department today.

Inspection of Ongoing Construction Works at Singjamei Chingamakha High School : 

After finishing the program at Heirangoithong, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh personally visited Singjamei Chingamakha High School located at Singjamei Chingamakha Phuramakhong in Imphal West district. He inspected the ongoing building construction and infrastructure upgrading works that is currently going on inside the campus. Higher officials from education department was walking together with him during this site review.

The Chief Minister checked all construction points and asked the contractors and site engineers about work speed and building quality. He directed the authorities that construction work must be completed on time without making any delay, so students can start using new classrooms very soon. Government are giving strict orders to ensure that school building materials is strong and durable for long time usage. Local residents of Singjamei area also met the Chief Minister during his visit and appreciated the fast work speed shown by government agency.

Big Rise in Student Enrolment and Exam Performance in Government Schools : 

During his address, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh shared some very encouraging facts regarding government school performance. He recalled that when he was first elected as Assembly Member, Singjamei Chingamakha High School was having very low student strength. But because of regular government effort, the total student count in this school have now crossed more than 200 students. Parents are now trusting government schools again and sending their children here instead of costly private schools.

The exam results of state board tests also showing big changes every year. In recent board examinations, out of 15 students who appeared from Singjamei Chingamakha High School, total 12 students secured first division marks. This success rate prove that teaching level in public institutions are going up consistently. Similarly, Heirangoithong High School was earlier considered as a non-performing school, but today student strength have reached nearly 150 students because learning atmosphere have improved completely.

Role of School Development Committees and Local Teachers : 

The Chief Minister praised the hard work of school headmistresses, teaching staff, and active school management committees for turning around these government schools. Headmistress of Heirangoithong High School O Jamuna Devi and school management members was present at the inauguration site. The Chief Minister stated that government policies alone cannot bring success unless school teachers take full responsibility and teach with dedication.

He pointed out that local management committees in government schools played a massive role in improving daily attendance and discipline among students. When teachers, parents, and local authorities works together as a team, school environment changes automatically. The state government is actively forming such development committees across all districts so every government school can maintain high standards of teaching and student care.

Future Infrastructure Plans to Boost Education Quality in Manipur : 

Looking at the upcoming goals, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh assured that state government will keep spending money on school infrastructure. He mentioned that although performance of students have improved, many government school buildings still need better basic facilities to attract more parents. Proper desk-benches, drinking water facilities, digital classrooms, and sports spaces will be added in coming phases.

The government plan to upgrade all high schools across Manipur in systematic manner. By providing modern library buildings, science laboratories, and clean school campuses, state wants to build strong educational base for future generation. Education department officers has been instructed to do regular surprise inspections in government schools so that teachers stays alert and maintenance work happens continuously without stopping. Parents across Imphal West district have welcomed these steps taken by state government for student welfare.
