Many Names Dropped from First List:
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) have released their first seat allotment list for law courses, but it brought bad news for many. A very large number of students who applied for BA-LLB and BBA-LLB programs found that their names are missing from the list. This happened because their CLAT ranks was not validated by the university computer system. This thing have created a lot of panic among students and parents because law seats gets filled up very quickly. The university management said that they had to drop these students because the document check process failed at the final stage. Now, hundreds of families are visiting the Dwarka campus daily to fix this mess, but the crowd is too big and things are moving very slow.
Why the Rank Validation Failed:
The main reason behind this big problem is a small technical communication gap between two different systems. IP University does. not conduct its own exam for law, they use the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) scores. For checking the ranks, IPU needs to pull data from the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) main website. This year, the university asked students to do a mandatory rank verification process on the portal. Many students filled the application form but they forgot to give their formal consent on the official NLU portal to share their score with IPU. Because the consent was missing, the NLU server blocked IPU from checking the database. When the university system tried to match the application data, it showed an error message. So, the university simply marked those profiles as invalid and moved ahead with the list.
The New Deadline and Solution:
To help the students who missed out, the university have now opened a special correction window. They has issued an urgent public notice on their website telling everyone what to do next. Candidates must login to their IPU admission portal immediately and upload. their official CLAT scorecard again. Along with this, you also have to visit the Consortium of NLUs website and click on the "Share Data with State Universities' button in your dashboard. The university have clearly said that this is the final opportunity for everyone. The last date to complete this rank validation and submit the online consent is July 8, 2026. If anyone fail to do this before the deadline, their application will be rejected permanently from the whole system. They will not get any chance in the next rounds or the spot counselling too.
Heavy Loss for Outstation Candidates:
This sudden issue have affected outside Delhi students the most. IP University have a strict 85 percent reservation for Delhi region candidates, and only 15 percent seats are there for outside Delhi students. Because the seats are very less, the competition is already touching the sky. Many outstation students who got very good ranks in CLAT is now out of the race because of this data matching. error. Some students travels from states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan just to submit physical letters at the university office. They are complaining that the online website was crashing continuously when they tried to upload the documents. Parents are saying that the university should have sent an SMS or email warning before removing the names directly from the first round list.
What to Do in the Next Round:
For the students who fixes their rank validation before July 8, the university will include them directly in the Phase 2 counselling round. The seat allotment for Phase 2 will be declared around July 12, 2026. Experts are advising that students should keep che checking their portal status every day. Once your rank shows "Validated" in green color, you can do the choice filling again. It is also important to remember that you should lock your choices very carefully this time. If you get a seat in the next round, you will have to pay the partial academic fee of 60,000 rupees online to reserve that seat. If you do not pay the money on time, your valid rank will become useless and the seat will go to the next candidate.
