Varanasi: Under the National Policy on Education (NEP), the semester system has also been implemented in the undergraduate courses of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. In such a situation, now the examination is being conducted twice a year. At the same time, the candidates will now have to pay the examination fee twice. Not only this, now students will have to pay an additional fee for the examination of vocational and skill development courses.

The examination committee of Kashi Vidyapeeth has directed the affiliated colleges to conduct skill development examinations at their own level. After conducting the examination, the colleges have to upload the skill development marks on the university portal. At the same time, many affiliated colleges were hesitant in conducting skill development exams due to lack of fees. In view of this, the university administration has fixed a fee of Rs 250 for the skill development examination. In such a situation, students will have to pay a separate fee of Rs 250 per semester.

According to registrar Dr. Sunita Pandey, apart from teaching, this includes preparation of examination papers, evaluation of answer sheets and other work. He said that under the NEP, now the mid-term examination has also been made mandatory at the graduation level. In such a situation, for the preparation and evaluation of mid-term examination papers, answer sheets, the affiliated colleges can charge an additional Rs 100 from the students. He said that this system would be equally applicable to all government, aided and self-financed colleges. Its order has also been issued.
