Sydney: In a major boost for Indian students aspiring to study in Australia, Macquarie University has announced its Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, offering up to AUD 50,000 (approximately ₹29 lakh) in tuition fee support for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
This initiative combines two key awards — the India Early Acceptance Scholarship and the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship — to make world-class education more affordable and accessible to high-achieving Indian students.
Scholarship Structure and Benefits
Under the new scheme, Indian students can receive:
- Up to AUD 40,000 through the India Early Acceptance Scholarship
- An additional AUD 10,000 under the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship
- Together, these scholarships significantly reduce tuition costs, providing crucial financial assistance while recognising academic excellence and ambition.
Eligibility Criteria for Indian Applicants
According to Macquarie University, the scholarships are open to Indian citizens enrolling in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programmes (excluding Graduate Certificates).
To qualify, candidates must:
- Hold a valid Letter of Offer and pay the commencement fee within the specified deadline.
- Remain enrolled for the duration of each compulsory study period.
- Not receive any other full-tuition government sponsorship or external scholarship (unless approved by Macquarie University).
Meet the academic criteria:
Postgraduate applicants: Minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65
Undergraduate applicants: Equivalent of ATAR 85
Students must also begin their studies in the intake session and year specified in their scholarship offer letter.
