LPUNEST 2027 Registration Begins: BTech Exam Starts January 10, Check the Full Schedule

LPUNEST 2027 Registration Begins for BTech: January Exam Dates, Eligibility and Application Details

Punjab: The path to admission into a BTech programme at Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been set in motion for the 2027 academic year. LPU has begun registration for LPUNEST 2027, with the first phase of the entrance and scholarship test to begin in January 2027. The LPUNEST (Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test) acts as an entrance and scholarship examination for eligible programmes.

LPU gives candidates the option of a remotely proctored examination at home or a test-centre examination. For students considering applying for engineering admission after Class 12, the timing is significant: registration has begun, while the first remote-proctored examination slots begin on January 10, 2027.

LPUNEST 2027 Registration: Important Dates

LPU has announced the following schedule for the first phase of LPUNEST 2027 BTech admissions:

The schedule reported following LPU's announcement shows that the remote-proctored test will begin earlier than the test-centre examination. Candidates who opt for a test centre therefore have a separate examination window beginning January 20.

What Is LPUNEST 2027?

LPUNEST refers to the LPU's national entrance and scholarship test. According to the university, it is used for admission into a wide range of programmes and can provide scholarship benefits based on performance. For BTech applicants, LPU lists multiple engineering pathways including Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Technology, among others.

The university also lists the specialisations and industry-linked options, covering areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Generative AI, FinTech and AI, and Software Product Engineering.

LPUNEST 2027 Eligibility

LPU's BTech admission information indicates that Indian nationals can apply for LPUNEST BTech. A candidate should have completed or appear in the qualifying Class 12 examination from a recognised board or equivalent institution. For several BTech programmes, LPU specifies a minimum 60% aggregate in Class 12 or equivalent, along with subject requirements. It specifies Physics, Mathematics and English for standard BTech programmes and different subject combinations for programmes such as Biotechnology, Food Technology and Biomedical Engineering.

Importantly, the university also states that admission can be made on merit in LPUNEST, JEE Main or CUET, subject to programme-specific eligibility conditions. Candidates should therefore check the eligibility requirements for their chosen BTech specialisation rather than assuming that one subject combination applies to every programme.

LPUNEST 2027 Exam Mode: Online or Test Centre

Students have two examination options. The remote proctored LPUNEST can be taken from home, while the alternative is a test centre-based examination where the university recommends the home-based option if the resources are available. For the remote examination, the university's instructions require candidates to use a computer or a laptop as the primary device and a smartphone as a secondary device.

A suitable internet connection, webcam, microphone and an appropriate examination environment are also required. Candidates opting for the home-based mode should therefore check the technical requirements before booking their slot.

How to Apply for LPUNEST 2027

Candidates can complete the application process through LPU's admission portal. The broad process involves:

• Registering on LPUADMIT.
• Entering personal and academic information.
• Paying the applicable LPUNEST kit/application fee.
• Selecting the examination mode.
• Booking the preferred examination slot.
• Completing the application and downloading the required admission/examination documents.

LPU currently lists the soft-copy LPUNEST kit at ₹1,000 and the printed kit at ₹1,500.

Why Students Should Monitor the January Deadline

The LPUNEST 2027 timeline has several separate dates and confusing the registration deadline with the examination date could lead to an avoidable problem. While the first remote-proctored exam begins on January 10, candidates can apply and book their slot until January 15, 2027, according to the announced schedule. The test-centre examination continues until February 5.

Students eyeing admission into BTech should regularly check the LPU portal for programme-specific eligibility, slot availability and other subsequent counselling updates.

LPUNEST 2027: What Happens After the Examination?

The announced Phase 1 result date is February 8, 2027, followed by online counselling and seat allocation. LPU's published schedule lists two rounds of counselling for regular BTech programmes, with the first round beginning February 8.

For students planning on applying for engineering admission in 2027, LPUNEST is therefore not just an examination date to remember. It is the start of a bigger admission timeline involving registration, slot booking, examination, results, counselling and final admission.
