Students of IMC&MT,KUK observed parliament proceedings

The media students of IMC&MT, KUK visited parliament to witness budget session. Students were guided by Members of Parliament. Union Minister for Minority Affairs and BJP MP from Amethi Lok Sabha Smriti Irani also made conversation with the students.

 

Kurukshetra, 24 March 2023: The Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra had organized a academic tour for media students of final year to witness the parliament proceedings. With the purpose to inculcate the journalistic work and values in blooming journalist, the tour to parliament with 40 member delegation of the department reached to watch Budget Session – 2023.

The mentors of the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology Asst. Professors Dr. Abhinav and Dr. Madhu was jointly leading the academic delegation tour. The Kurukshetra Lok Sabha MP Nayab Singh Saini welcomed the 40-member delegation to parliament’s library seminar hall and forwarded speech to the students. While expecting contribution from the blooming journalists in the development, he pointed out the recent developments made by the BJP government in Haryana. He said, before the BJP government, people were facing end numbers of problems in the state and after when BJP made to Haryana politics; the problems were recognized and solved by the tireless efforts. Meanwhile, he also emphasized on 250 crores development project in Kurukshetra which was developed by the Honorable Prime Minister of the country.

On this occasion, Director of Rajya Sabha Secretariat Dr. Raghav Prasad Das also discussed about the role and proceedings of Parliament in India with the delegation. He inspired the future journalists to collect more information regarding Parliament, Executive, Legislature in order to become good journalists in future.

The media students also interacted to several members of parliament such as,  MP from Faridabad, Bijendra Singh, MP from Hisar, Sunita Duggal and MP from Sirsa. Along with this, BJP MP from Amethi Lok Sabha and Union Minister for Minority Affairs Smriti Irani also made face to face conversation with the students. Furthermore, all respected parliamentarians inspired all the students to participate actively in the development of the country and wished them for their bright future.

Afterwards, the students saw the proceedings of the Parliament session from 2:00 to 2:30 pm in the public gallery. A lead of the delegation, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abhinav said that media students learned a lot during this period. It will not only develop the skills to write and cover parliamentary proceedings in students but, overall lead to develop the society through their Journalism. During tour, The students also visited the two-day Global Shree Anna Exhibition and Conference which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 18.

On this occasion, Director of the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Professor Bindu Sharma said that media students have been visiting the Parliament and the Haryana Vidhan Sabha during the budget session for the last many years to learn and understand parliamentary reporting, which is a part of the curriculum. She also added that such educational tours are important because it evolve practical knowledge in future journalists. The one day tour to parliament had successfully conducted by the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, KUK.
