Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has allowed a 60-day relaxation in the age limit for Class 1 admissions for the 2026–27 academic year.
This means children who are slightly younger than the required age can get admission this year.
As per the rule, a child must be six years old by June 1 to join Class 1. Many parents had raised concerns as their children were missing the cut-off by a few weeks.
With this change, such students will now be eligible, giving relief to parents.
The relaxation will be applicable only for the current admission cycle. The government said the step was taken to make the process easier while maintaining the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines.
