Karnataka Govt Grants 3 Year Age Relaxation for Civil Service Aspirants

Bengaluru ; The Karnataka government has announced a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for candidates applying for direct recruitment to state civil services. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) issued the order on Monday, extending the benefit to aspirants from all categories.

The decision came after several public representatives and organisations submitted requests to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, seeking an age relaxation to widen opportunities. Earlier, on September 6, 2025, the government had approved a two-year relaxation. However, the latest order withdraws that notification and increases the extension to three years.

The relaxation will be applicable to all recruitment notifications issued after the order and will remain valid until December 31, 2027.

The DPAR further clarified that recruitment authorities have been directed to delay notifications for certain reserved category positions until the internal reservation framework for Scheduled Castes is finalised.

According to the government, the move is intended to provide a fair chance to a wider pool of aspirants across Karnataka.
