JNU organises seminar on International Mother Language Day

The seminar is titled ‘Decolonising Higher Education: Multilingual Pedagogy and Epistemic Justice’.

New Delhi: Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies (ZHCES) of Jawaharlal Nehru University is organising a seminar on International Mother Language Day on 21 February 2023. The seminar is titled ‘Decolonising Higher Education: Multilingual Pedagogy and Epistemic Justice’

According to the official website, the aim of the seminar is to examine the coloniality of languages in India and the transformative role multilingual pedagogy can play in the academic life of students from marginalized communities. It also seeks to encourage dialogue on minimising mediational barriers linguistically, cognitively and intersubjectively so higher education can be accessed better. 

The seminar will be convened by Professor Minati Panda (JNU) and Speakers from five different universities – JNU, AUD, Ashoka, Azim Premji and Delhi University will present their ideas. The venue for the event is Committee Room, SSS I, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
