JMI VC attends Visitor’s Conference, briefs President and Education Minister about recent achievements of the university

:- Hon’ble President also presented the ‘Visitor’s Award 2020 for Research (Biological Sciences)’ to Prof Mohammad Zahid Ashraf, Department of Biotechnology, JMI for his research on hypoxia-induced thrombosis

 

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar attended two-day Visitor’s Conference at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the Conference yesterday which was attended by Hon’ble Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Education Shri Subhas Sarkar, Secretary, Higher Education Shri Sanjay Murthy, Chairman UGC, Chairman AICTE, Chairperson, NCVET, Heads of Central Universities/Institutes of Higher Learning and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and the President Secretariat.

The Vice Chancellor briefed the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pardhan about the recent achievements of the university during the conference.  Prof. Akhtar also met with heads of other Central Institutes of Higher Education and discussed different issues related to academics, research and administration.

CEO and Founder of the coveted QS World Ranking Mr. Nunzio Quacquarelli gave a presentation during the conference.  As JMI regularly participates in the QS Rankings, the Vice Chancellor raised several queries during the presentation which he replied satisfactorily.     

It is worth mentioning that during the inaugural session of the conference yesterday, the Hon’ble President also presented the ‘Visitor’s Award 2020 for Research (Biological Sciences)’ to Prof Mohammad Zahid Ashraf, Department of Biotechnology, JMI for his research on hypoxia-induced thrombosis.
