
New Delhi. : Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) PhD student Munna Khalid won Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in three different categories at Uganda Para Badminton International 2024. The Championship was organized by BWF Badminton World Federation in Kambala, Uganda from 1st to 7th July 2024. Players from a number of countries across the globe participated in the championship.
Khalid defeated Julie Godoy, one of the top ranked Brazilian players in three sets (14-21, 21-19 and 21-18) in the final and won the Gold Medal. He lost to the Brazilian pair in the Doubles final and won the Bronze Medal in Mixed Doubles.
Recently, in the month of March, Khalid won a Silver Medal in 6th National Para Badminton Championship and participated in the Para Badminton World Championship 2024. In December 2023, Khalid won a Bronze Medal in Khelo India Para Games 2023. Khalid aims to bring glory to the university and the nation by representing India in the upcoming Asian Games and Paralympics.
Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Offg. Vice Chancellor, JMI congratulated Munna Khalid for the achievement and wished him good luck for his future endeavors.
Khalid is currently pursuing PhD at the Department of Hindi, JMI. Earlier, he has completed his BA, MSW and MA (Hindi) too from JMI.
