New Delhi. : Dr. Zakir Husain Library, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in collaboration with Scopus (Elsevier), organized an Author Workshop titled “Know-How of Publishing in Scopus-Indexed Journals”  for faculty members and research scholars on July 25, 2024 in hybrid mode. The workshop covered various topics, including increasing research efficiency, identifying emerging trends, the publishing workflow, understanding the editor's mindset to improve chances of article acceptance, journal metrics, and selecting suitable journals.

Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Hon’ble Offg. Vice Chancellor JMI, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Mr. M. Nasim Haider, Offg. Registrar was the Guest of Honour. The workshop witnessed an impressive turnout of more than 400 participants including faculty members, students, scholars and researchers participating in the event, in hybrid mode. Additionally, the presence of Deans, Directors, Heads, Proctor, Provost and other esteemed members of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity demonstrated the event’s success.

While addressing the audience, Prof. Mohammad Shakeel stated, “The journey of research and publication is not an isolated one but a collaborative effort that thrives on shared knowledge, constructive feedback, and continuous learning. By working together and supporting each other, we can elevate our research output and make significant contributions to the global body of knowledge.” Prof. Shakeel also congratulated Dr. Vikas S. Nagrale, the University Librarian, and his dedicated team for organizing such a relevant workshop. He also acknowledged the services of the Library.

Dr. Vikas Nagrale, in his introductory address, emphasized the importance of Scopus. He mentioned that “For authors, publishing in Scopus-indexed journals not only validates their work but also enhances its influence within the scholarly community.”

Dr. Vinita Saroha, the expert speaker from Elsevier, delivered a well-explained presentation during the workshop. Dr. Sufian Ahmad, Deputy Librarian, Dr. Zakir Husain Library welcomed the guests of the event. The University Librarian expressed gratitude to all members of the organizing committee and all library staff, commending their tireless efforts in organizing the event. The program was conducted by Mr. Johan M. Mir, Information Scientist, Dr. Zakir Husain Library. Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Assistant Librarian, Dr. Zakir Husain Library proposed a vote of thanks and concluded the event by expressing gratitude to all the participants.
