JMI organizes Tri Lingual Slogan Writing Competition to celebrate International Literacy Day

:- A large number of students from the department participated in the competition and created many meaningful slogans

New Delhi: The Department of Adult and Continuing Education & Extension (DACEE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organized a trilingual slogan writing competition in Hindi, Urdu, and English on the theme 'Literacy for Masses' on September 8, 2022.  8th September marks the global observance of International Literacy Day.

A large number of students from the department participated in the competition and created many meaningful slogans. All participating students are being given certificates of participation.

Prof. Shikha Kapur, HoD, DACEE said that literacy is at the very roots of the development of any nation. As long as the masses remain illiterate, achieving true development just remains a mere jargon and dream. Further, literacy goals can only be achieved if the masses are made aware of its relevance in their own language. With this idea, the trilingual slogan writing competition was planned.

The first prize was bagged by Mirza Yusra Beg, while Maisah Shahid got the 2nd Prize. Both are students of Masters in Development Extension Semester III while Aziz Fatima, a Semester I student of the DeT apartment clinched the 3rd prize. The Faculty Members of the DACEE judged the winners of the competition.

The Department will continue with its week-long Literacy Week celebrations by taking out a Literacy Awareness Rally on Saturday 10th September 2022 at Shram Vihar Slum Cluster in Okhla from 9.30 a.m. onwards. The Slogans created by the Students will be used while students take out this rally.
