New Delhi, :The Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organizes a special lecture on “Job Prospects in International Organizations like WB, IMF, UNO etc.): Insight from a Financial Analyst” on September 5, 2024, by Mr. Mohammad Islam, Financial Analyst at the World Bank, Washington, DC and alumnus of the Department of Economics, JMI. The lecture provided students with valuable guidance on securing positions at prestigious global institutions like World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and UNO.
Prof.Asheref Illiyan, Head, Department of Economics, JMI in his opening remark emphasized the importance of such interactions in helping students to gain industry insights and better prepare for their careers. During the session, Mr. Islam shared a strategic roadmap, offering students clear steps to explore entry-level opportunities in international organizations and align their skills with the roles available. The session focused on practical advice and real-world experiences to help students better prepare for careers in global financial institutions.
Mr. Islam encouraged the students to choose an area of interest that aligns with key roles in global organizations, such as Financial Analyst, Economist, Operations, Research & Data Analysis, Consulting, and Advisory. He emphasized the importance of developing a well-curated resume and cover letter that highlight relevant skills and practical experience, ensuring they effectively communicate the student’s qualifications. Mr. Islam urged students to regularly follow career portals of relevant institutions to stay informed about entry-level opportunities and to actively pursue available positions. This session has empowered the students with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the international job market and pursue successful careers in International organizations.
Dr. Md. Zakaria Siddiqui, Dr. Vasim Akram and Dr. Mohammad Kashif Khan coordinated the event, which was enthusiastically attended by Faculty Members Prof. Nandan Nawan, Dr. Nadeem and more than 85 students from MA Economics, MSc Banking and Financial Analytics (BFA), and BA (Hons) Economics. The event formally ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mohammad Kashif Khan.
