JMI organizes Principals’ Interactive Meet 2024

Strengthening Collaborations for Effective Teacher Training

New Delhi. : The Department of Teachers Training and Non-Formal Education (IASE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)  held the “Principals’ Interactive Meet-2024” on 6th November, 2024.  This meet focused on the school interaction program for B.Ed. (G), B.Ed. (N) & D.El.Ed. and took place in Salamatullah Block, New Hall, IASE, Faculty of Education. The event was attended by principals from interning primary, secondary, and senior secondary schools along with all the faculty members of IASE.

Prof. Jessy Abhram, Head, IASE presided over the program and delivered the inaugural address,  which included a welcoming message.  She outlined the purpose of the meet, which was to inform school principals about the various activities that student-teachers would be implementing in their respective schools.

Dr. Mohd. Mamur Ali, coordinator of B.Ed. 2nd year, lead the meet and briefed about the B.Ed. internship programme along with the needs and expectations of the School Internship Programme. Dr. Dori Lal, Coordinator of B.Ed. 1 st year, shared all the components of School Internship Programme followed in B.Ed. (General) Sem -1 st . Dr. Ashfiya Danishyar, coordinator of B.Ed. Nursery 2nd year, briefed about various elements of School Internship Programme being followed in B.Ed. Nursery 2 nd year. Prof. Savita Kaushal and Dr. Kapil Dhingra, coordinators of B.Ed. Nursery 1 st year, also talked about the structure and implementation of the School Internship Programme in B.Ed. Nursery 1 st year. The 2nd year D.El.Ed. Coordinator, Dr. Arshad Ansari, talked about the need and significance of the School Internship Program in Diploma Elementary Education. He discussed the relevance and important role of school principals in smooth execution of internship programmes. Dr. Ansar Ahmed, coordinator of D.El.Ed. 1st  Year, discussed the role of school and school authorities in implementing the programme effectively.

Principals from various schools shared their feedback on the ongoing SIP (School Internship Programme). They gave some fruitful suggestions to be incorporated in the internship programme to make it more enriching for the student-teachers. They also suggested providing guidelines to be followed by the participating schools during the internship programme.

Prof. Jessy Abhram concluded the session by thanking all the principals for their presence. She appreciated them for their valuable feedback and cooperation. She assured them that the department will surely work on the feedback given by them and bring changes accordingly. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Dori Lal, Coordinator of B.Ed. 1 st year.
