New Delhi :The Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Milla Islamia, New Delhi is conducting the one week short term workshop course on “Issues and challenges of Grid Connected Renewable Energy Sources (ICGCRE-22)” from February 21,2022 to February 25, 2022 to encourage the research on renewable energy and its challenges. More than 400 teachers and research scholars across the country are participating in the AICTE, govt. of India, sponsored online one week short term course.
Dr. Abrar Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, JMI, welcomes the Chief Guest, Dr. Rajeev Varshney, Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Guest of Honour, Col. B. Venkat, Prof. Ibraheem, Dean, Faculty of Engg. & Tech., JMI, Prof. Munna Khan, Head, Electrical Engineering Department, JMI and QIP Coordinator, Prof. Majid Jamil,with their brief introduction in the inaugural function.
The Chief Guest of the inaugural function Dr. Rajeev Varshney, Director, DRDO-Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DRDO-DIPAS), New Delhi congratulated the Department of Electrical Engineering for organizing the course on an important topic entitled “Issues and challenges of Grid Connected Renewable Energy Sources”. He mentioned in his speech about the energy constraints faced by army soldiers at high altitude. He asked the participants and experts to look for alternatives of high cost and less efficient fuel energy on high altitudes. He emphasized on the importance of renewable energy in the current scenario and motivated the participants to work on solutions of difficulties faced by defence personals.
Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-chancellor appreciated the theme of one week short-term course and called upon the researchers and students to undertake emerging challenges to increase the green energy sources. She said that India is setting an example in front of the world when it comes to protecting the environment. She said that it is not necessary to block development works while doing so, economy and ecology both can go together and can move forward. She underscored the impressive record of Government of India under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also quoted what Prime Minister had said, On Word Environment Day that “India's capacity for renewable energy has increased by more than 250 percent in 6-7 years”. India is today in the top-5 countries of the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity. Prof. Najma Akhtar appreciates the Department of Electrical Engineering for organizing such an event, contributing tremendously in the growth of Jamia, international level research labs and very competent research oriented faculty member. She appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Electrical Engineering and its achievement of setting up of a QIP Centre in the Department.
The Guest of Honor of the Inaugural Function, Col. B. Venkat, Director AICTE, New Delhi, also appreciated the theme of the short term course and suggested for set outcomes of this program. He said that the topic is very relevant in today’s need of green energy requirement.
Prof. Majid Jamil, Course Coordinator, outlined the design of the course and highlighted the theme and sub-themes of the one week Sort Term Course on “Issues and challenges of Grid Connected Renewable Energy Sources (ICGCRE-22)”. In his report, he informed that 838 scholars are registered for the course from 278 eminent institutes including industries. It is indeed an overwhelming response from different parts of the country. Prof. Jamil mentioned in his speech that 462 participants were shortlisted including faculty members, research scholars and students from different institutes across the country. He also reported that experts invited are from IITs, NITs, DTU, AMU, Jamia, Industry and many other leading institutes.
The Head of the Department, Prof. Munna Khan highlighted strengths of the department as NBA granted for 6 year, only department that has QIP center in the University. Prof. Khan also heighted awarded Ph.Ds from the department to more than 150 students, Research h-index of 58, more than 10 published and granted patents. Prof. Khan also emphases that the department received the grant of more than of Rs. 10 Cr in last decade.
Prof. Ibraheem, Dean, extended thanks to Vice chancellor, chief guest and guest of honour of the function and congratulated the organizers for conducting the one week course in the department of Electrical Engineering.
The inaugural function ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Md. Sarwar, Assistant Professor, Department Electrical Engineering Department, JMI.
