JMI organises Motivational talk on “Army as a Career Option”

Brigadier Kaushik Mukherjee, Sena Medal, Deputy Director General Recruiting ‘A’ (Officer Selection) was invited to deliver the talk.

 

New Delhi. : The University Placement Cell (UPC) along with National Cadet Corps(NCC), Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organized a Motivational Talk on “Army as a Career Option” in the Training Hall of the UPC,JMI on 9th February,2023.

Brigadier Kaushik Mukherjee, Sena Medal, Deputy Director General Recruiting ‘A’ (Officer Selection) was invited to deliver the talk. The Session began with a Welcome Address by Prof. Rahela Farooqi Hony. Director, UPC. Prof. Tasneem Meenai (Hony. Coordinator, NCC, JMI) then formally introduced the Guest of Honour to the audience.

Brigadier Mukherjee initiated the talk by introducing to the students the values which an army officer upholds. He specified that the prominent values for anyone who wishes to serve in the Army are Leadership and Teamwork. He repeatedly emphasised on how being a good human being is the base and then comes being a good soldier and then being a good officer. With real life instances from his own life and from those of his fellow officers, he made the talk really engaging.

Addressing a gathering full of young energy, he stressed on the importance of having an aim in life and how creativity and innovation can sail you through. While elaborating on the role of the Indian Army in our country, he highlighted the fact that the Indian Army recruits candidates irrespective of their religion or caste.

Brigadier Mukherjee also discussed the selection procedure for both technical and non-technical graduates with special emphasis on the SSB and how SSB is one of the most brilliantly carved method of selection which assess the candidates on the basis of their “Man, Vachan and Karm” that is their mind, words and actions. 

At the end of the Talk, the students interacted with Brigadier Mukherjee and expressed their willingness to join the armed forces. The room was filled with undergraduate and postgraduate students who were very enthusiastic to meet such an honourable personality of the country.

Moreover, it was an informative as well as an inspiring session which definitely made a difference in the lives of students. The Session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Nida Khan, Senior Placement Executive at UPC, JMI.
