JMI organises lecture on India’s G 20 presidency

It was the second lecture of JMIs G20 Lecture Series titled ‘G20 and India’s Presidency: looking Ahead'.

New Delhi: On 28th February 2023, India Arab Cultural Centre (IACC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organized the second lecture of the G20 Lecture Series titled ‘G20 and India’s Presidency: looking Ahead’. The lecture was given by Prof. Arvind Kumar from the Centre for Canadian, US & Latin American Studies, SIS, JNU.

According to the official press release, Prof. Nasir Raza Khan, Hony. Director and convener of the G-20 Lecture Series greeted all the attendees and highlighted the importance and relevance of the talk. Prof. Arvind Kumar spoke on the potential and difficulties that will come with India’s assuming the G-20 presidency. He also emphasised various tasks undertaken by the country such as meeting the Paris Protocol’s green energy targets, woman empowerment and the aim of Digital India.

India assumed the G-20 presidency on the 1st of December 2022 from Indonesia. The theme of India's G20 Presidency - “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future”

Prof Arvind stated that the western world is no longer in charge of setting the global agenda. Developed countries are looking to India to work with them on sustainable growth and
development. He also discussed the challenge China poses to the world and what India can do about it.
