New Delhi: 180 Degrees Consulting Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) hosted Jamia’s Biggest Learning festival, Nirvana 180, with the motto ‘For Jamia, with Freshers, By 180’, at the prestigious M.A. Ansari Auditorium of the varsity. Designed for freshers, this event aimed to raise awareness about career development, consulting, and social impact. It offered an unforgettable experience brimming with inspiration, innovation, and excitement. With over 300 attendees for the speaker sessions, the event had a participation of 200+ students in various competitions, raising ₹4000 in a fundraising competition and showcasing 8 student stalls at the Stalls Expo.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Rahela Farooqi, Faculty Advisor of 180DC JMI, whose leadership has not only guided but also inspired students to strive for excellence and make a positive impact in their communities.
Following this, the Chief Guest, Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Officiating Vice Chancellor, JMI, shared his vision for the university, highlighting the importance of innovation, academic excellence, and community development in shaping the institution’s future. Prof. Seemi Farhat Basir, the Guest of Honour, was then celebrated for her outstanding contributions to academia.
The speaker sessions provided immense value to attendees, featuring industry leaders sharing their expertise. Srishti Kataria, Director at Unstop, offered insights into mastering interviews in her talk “Interviewing 101”. Vivek Raina, CEO of Excitel Broadband, discussed his entrepreneurial journey in “Building a 2000 Cr Startup Against All Odds”. Dr. Ruha Shadab, Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co., shared her experiences on consulting and social impact, while Rahul Sharma, a youth influencer and business coach, emphasized the importance of social media and work experience in his talk “Don’t Start a Business If You Don’t Like Social Media”.
The event transitioned to the stalls expo, followed by competitions hosted across campus, including the Jamia Case Challenge, Business Plan Competition, and a Fundraising Competition in support of Seekh Foundation. The competitions were judged by industry experts including Adil Khan, Associate at Bain &Co, Adil Ahmed, Founding Member of Gurucool and Meghna Joshi, Founder of Swan Livelihood. Nirvana 180 was a resounding success, leaving students motivated and excited for their future endeavors. More than 50 teams from different departments participated in the Jamia case Challenge and Business Plan Competition.
