New Delhi, January 7, 2026 : The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), in collaboration with the Indian Board of Orthodontics (IBO) Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) and the Orthodontic Study Group of Delhi (OsGOD), organized the “IBO Awareness Programme- Blueprint to Board Certification” at the FTK-CIT Conference Hall, Jamia Millia Islamia on 5 January, 2026.
The programme was inaugurated by the Registrar, JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, in the presence of Officiating Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Ashu Bharadwaj, along with distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, orthodontic practitioners, postgraduate residents, and students. In his inaugural address, the Registrar, Prof Rizvi, emphasized ethical clinical practice, evidence-based treatment standards, disciplined documentation, and lifelong professional learning as core values upheld at Jamia Millia Islamia.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic and engaging participation of over 90 delegates, including faculty members, private practitioners, and postgraduate students from various dental colleges across the Delhi–NCR region.
The scientific deliberations included structured presentations on IBO Certification Categories I to V, delivered by IBO Board Members — Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar, Prof. (Dr) Ajit Kalia, Dr. Ashish Garg, Dr. Kiran Kumar H. C., and Prof. (Dr) Sunanda Roychoudhury.
The programme commenced with an address by Prof. Maninder S. Sidhu, Convener, OsGOD, who presented the Convener’s Update and formally invited Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar to the dais to deliver the opening lecture. In her introductory lecture, Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar, Chairman IBO, introduced the audience to the recently published IBO Index, elaborating on its structure, relevance, and application to clinical case assessment and documentation. The sessions focused IBO Categories I to V on case selection protocols, treatment records, evaluation criteria, and presentation standards, offering participants practical clarity on certification preparedness.
A key highlight of the programme was the special interactive session, “IBO Certification & Me — From Aspiration to Achievement,” addressed by Prof. (Dr) Puneet Batra, Imm. Past President, IOS and Group Captain (Dr) Mohit Sharma, who shared their professional journeys and reflections on the transformative value of board certification.
The event concluded with a valedictory session, acknowledging the contributions of the speakers, organizers, OsGOD members, institutional support teams, and participants. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Harneet Kaur, Professor of Orthodontics, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Convener of the Orthodontic Study Group of Delhi (OsGOD), who expressed gratitude to the distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, and delegates for their enthusiastic participation and support.
