JMI and Office of the DC Handicraft North Region, Ministry of Textile, GoI jointly hosts Craft Demonstration & Awareness Program

New Delhi :- The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner Handicraft North Region, Ministry of Textile, Government of India, proudly inaugurated a three-day Craft Cum Awareness program on January 4, 2024. The event, aimed at promoting traditional craftsmanship and fostering awareness, witnessed an impressive inaugural session at 11:00 am, graced by eminent dignitaries.

During the inaugural session, JMI Vice Chancellor and Chief Guest of the function Prof. Eqbal Hussain emphasized the significance of skills in achieving self-reliance, stating that skills are the key to building an Atma Nirbhar Bharat and fulfilling the vision of a developed Bharat by 2047. He commended the Director of CIE for organizing such events to empower the youth and expressed appreciation for their commitment to the principles set forth by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Guest of Honor of the function Mr. Indera Kumar Meena, Assistant Director, Office of the Commissioner Handicraft, North Region, Ministry of Textile, GOI enlightened participants about various ministry schemes and assured them of support in promoting their talents. He emphasized the role of his office in facilitating the growth and recognition of the participants’ skills.

The master trainers, Craft programs in the field of fabric printing, zari work and embroidery demonstrated their crafts and participants enthusiastically showed their talent in learning the craft and developing their creativity for showcasing them at national and international level through the office of D C (Handicraft) ministry of Textile. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
