JKBOSE Postpones Class 11 Exams Scheduled for July 23 Due to Heavy Rain

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially postponed the Higher Secondary Part-I (Class 11) Annual Private and Bi-Annual examinations scheduled for July 23, 2026, across J&K and Ladakh due to severe inclement weather and regional flood risks. Authorities cited continuous heavy rainfall, swollen rivers, and potential highway landslides as the primary safety risks for commuting students and invigilators. While Class 11 candidates await a revised examination date sheet on the official portal, JKBOSE clarified that the Jammu and Kashmir State Open School (JKSOS) Class 10 and 12 examinations will proceed without changes as per their original timetable.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, which is commonly called JKBOSE, have taken a very big decision for all class 11 students. The official notification came out that the Higher Secondary Part-I annual private and bi-annual examinations for the year 2026 is officially postponed. This paper was scheduled to happen today on July 23, 2026. So many students was preparing for this exam since many days, but now they do not have to go to the exam center today.

The authorities made this clear decision late evening yesterday so that students does not face trouble in the morning time. This decision apply to all exam centers across the entire Jammu and Kashmir region and also in Ladakh areas like Leh and Kargil. Many students was getting very worried about how they will reach to their allotted centers because of the bad situation outside. The board spokesperson said that safety of children is the main priority for the administration right now.

Why Examination Cancelled For Today : 

The main reason behind postponing this exam is the bad weather condition that is going on across the whole state. Heavy rainfall is happening in almost every district from last two days continuously. Water level in rivers like Tawi and Chenab have crossed danger marks in many places. Also, flash flood warnings and land slide incidents is reported on main highways.

Because of continuous rain, road connection in many local areas have broken down completely. Transportation is not working properly and many roads is filled with water. In such situation, travelling to exam center can become very dangerous for young students and school teachers. So the education board thought that cancelling the July 23 examination is the best option. They want to ensure no student face any physical injury or get stuck anywhere in bad weather.

What Happens To JKSOS Open School Exams : 

While class 11 regular private exam is postponed, there is a very important detail that every student must understand clearly. The board have clarified that examinations for Jammu and Kashmir State Open School, which is JKSOS, will continue as per old timetable. The JKSOS class 10 and class 12 exams scheduled for today will take place normally without any delay.

Many open school students was thinking that their exam is also cancelled, but officials said there is no change for them. Only the class 11 higher secondary part-I private and bi-annual paper scheduled for July 23 is put on hold. So open school candidates must reach their centers on exact time as per their admit card. If any candidate confuse between these two notifications, they should talk to their center superintendent immediately to clear doubts.

Now the biggest question in every student mind is that when this postponed paper will happen again. As per the current notification from JKBOSE board, new dates for the class 11 exam is not decided yet. The board officials told that fresh dates will be notified separately very soon on official channels.

Students does not need to fill any new form or pay any extra fees for the rescheduled exam. The same admit card and same center will be valid when new date is announced by board. The administration is waiting for weather to become normal first before fixing new date sheet.
