JEECUP 2026: Exam Postponed, New Dates Published
The Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) has rescheduled the UPJEE (Polytechnic) 2026 exams. It will take place from 2nd June to 9th June 2026 instead of 15th May to 22nd May 2026. The council has posted on their official site, jeecup.admissions.nic.in, that there have been unavoidable circumstances for the rescheduling.
For the many students in Uttar Pradesh who have been preparing for admission into diploma and polytechnic programs, the changes have come with a sense of urgency. Late applicants now have until the 20th of May to apply, because the application period from the 15th of January 2026 has been extended. Each year, the polytechnic entrance exam is conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, and it allows admission to government, aided, and private polytechnic colleges across the state.
Who Can Apply: Eligibility Criteria Explained
The application requirements for JEECUP 2026 have certain common features, but they vary by course groups. For Group A, which includes Diploma in Engineering and Technology, students must have completed Class 10 with an aggregate of 35% and scored 50% marks in the combined Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Class 12 passing is also a prerequisite for some groups, including some pharmacy and management streams, and in these cases, students must secure at least 50% marks in the relevant subject group.
Candidates who have completed or are currently enrolled in the required qualifying examination are eligible to sit for the entrance test. Applications are submitted online only, and when filling out the form, candidates must choose a course group from Group A to K8. Candidates must refer to the official information brochure to check for any group-specific conditions, as there is no upper age limit for most groups.
Exam pattern and structure, Syllabus, and methods of preparation.
JEECUP 2026 is a Multiple-choice test with 100 questions and a total duration of 150 minutes. The test is conducted in a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) mode. One of the major advantages of this examination is that there will be no negative marking, and hence, candidates can attempt all the questions without worrying about scoring less due to wrong answers. The examination will be available in Hindi as well as in English, making it easier for a larger number of candidates to take the test for admissions to polytechnic courses.
The syllabus is designed in a group-wise manner as per the NCERT and the UP Board. Group A covers Class 10 Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The remaining groups in the areas of pharmacy, agriculture, fashion, and home science cover the Class 12 syllabi of respective subjects. It is advisable to begin the revision with the board-level Class 12 texts and review previous years' question papers to get a sense of the level and pattern of questions. It is recommended to do a number of mock tests in CBT as this will help in the management of time in the final test.
Timeline for Admit Card, Results, and Counselling
All JEECUP 2023 aspirants should also note that the admit card was originally scheduled to be issued on May 8, 2026. Since the exam dates have changed, the council will announce the admit card date on the official website after the new exam timetable is published. Hall tickets will be available on the portal and must be printed by students, who will be required to present them for verification before gaining entry to the exam. No individual will be allowed to take the exam without a valid Admit Card and an Identity Proof.
The result will be declared in the first week of June 2026, and successful candidates will receive a rank card. The rank card will display the candidate’s name, roll number, marks, and rank. The rank will be valid for one year and must be maintained until the completion of the admission process. Post process completion of admission, successful candidates will be required to sign up for counselling, expected to be conducted between June 5 to July 15, 2026. During counselling, candidates will fill in preferences, pay the seat acceptance fee, and formally join the institute. Rank, category and course preferences will determine seat allotment.
