Jamia Millia Islamia and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi sign an MoU to boost joint research, faculty exchange, curriculum development, and academic collaboration.

New Delhi, February 16, 2026: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi (Dr. B. R. AUD) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic collaboration and joint research activities between the two institutions. The MoU was signed at JMI’s Yasser Arafat Hall.

The agreement was formally signed by Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, and Col. Omkar Singh (Retd.), Registrar, Dr. B. R. AUD, in the presence of Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor, JMI, and Prof. Anu Singh Lather, Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. R. AUD.

The collaboration aims to enhance teaching and research effectiveness, create research opportunities for students and scholars, and jointly organise seminars, conferences, and academic workshops on areas of mutual interest. The MoU also envisages joint publications, including books, monographs, and seminar/workshop proceedings.

Under the agreement, both universities will partner to undertake joint research projects, enable joint supervision of Ph.D. programmes, conduct capacity-building initiatives, and facilitate faculty, staff, and student exchanges. The collaboration will also focus on curriculum revision aligned with industry needs, workshops on MOOCs and ICT, and the exchange of academic resources. Additionally, the two institutions will work together on cultural exchange programmes and sports activities.

Expressing optimism about the partnership, Prof. Anu Singh Lather noted that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, guided by the vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, is committed to equity, social justice, diversity, and inclusion. She emphasized that the MoU would foster interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in liberal arts, social sciences, human ecology, and environmental studies.

Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor, JMI, described the MoU as a significant step toward meaningful academic collaboration between two major universities in the national capital. He highlighted JMI’s legacy as a 105-year-old institution founded by nationalists and freedom fighters, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and Dr. Zakir Husain. He underlined the shared commitment of both institutions to uplifting marginalized communities, including SCs, STs, women, and other underserved groups, and expressed confidence in high-quality joint work across disciplines such as Education, Management, Law, Engineering, and languages.

Prof. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, stated that the collaboration would synergize academic and research exchanges between faculty and students, yielding mutual benefits in the years ahead.

Officials from Dr. B. R. AUD present at the signing included Prof. Kartik Dave, Dean (Planning), Shri Bipul Kr Srivastav, Deputy Registrar (Legal), and Dr. Aditya Pratap Singh (PRO). From JMI, attendees included Prof. Zubair Meenai (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences), Prof. Tanuja (Dean, Academic Affairs), Prof. Kafeel Ahmed (Dean, Research), Prof. Ushvinder K. Popli (Dean, International Relations), and Prof. Saima Saeed (Foreign Students’ Advisor & Chief PRO). Prof. Zubair Meenai played a pivotal role in drafting and coordinating the MoU.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Col. Omkar Singh (Retd.), Registrar, Dr. B. R. AUD.
