Kolkata: Jadavpur University, Kolkata, has invited applications for two prestigious research positions — Project Assistant (PA-1) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) — under DVC-sponsored and Indo-French (CEFIPRA) funded research projects, respectively. Both positions will be supervised by Prof. Ranjan Ganguly, Principal Investigator from the Department of Power Engineering, Jadavpur University, Salt Lake Campus.

1. Project Assistant (PA-1) – DVC Sponsored Research Project

• Project Title: “Cooling Tower Fog Harvesting using Wettability–Engineered Meshes”
• Funding Agency: Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)
• Tenure: Co-terminus with the project, provisionally up to February 10, 2026
• Monthly Fellowship: ₹20,000 (consolidated)

Eligibility Criteria:

• Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Power, Aerospace, Chemical, Production, or Metallurgical Engineering with at least 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA and above.
• Desirable Skills: Experience in Surface Science, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Arduino-based lab automation, or image processing using MATLAB/Python.
• Age Limit: Maximum 28 years (relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PH candidates).

• Candidates must collect the prescribed application form from the University Information Office by paying a fee of ₹50.

Project Objective:
This project focuses on developing sustainable fog harvesting systems using wettability-engineered surfaces to improve industrial water recovery and promote environmental sustainability in cooling tower applications.

 2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – Indo-French CEFIPRA Project

• Project Title: “Novel Electrohydrodynamic Mist Capture in Condensing Environment for VOC Abatement” (Project No. 7009-1)
• Funding Agency: Indo–French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA)
• Tenure: Provisional up to March 7, 2027, extendable based on project duration and funding
• Monthly Fellowship: ₹37,000 + HRA (as admissible)

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Power, Automobile, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering, or Nanoscience and Technology with 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA and above and GATE qualification, OR
• Master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry with a valid GATE/CSIR–UGC NET qualification (including lectureship eligibility).
• Desirable Skills: Hands-on experience in Surface Science, CFD, Arduino-based lab automation, and image processing in MATLAB/Python.
• Age Limit: 28 years as of the date of application (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PH candidates).
