INDIRA GANDHI DELHI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN HELD ITS FIFTH CONVOCATION

The ceremony was marked open by the Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Chancellor of the University. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Govt. of India, was the Chief Guest.

 

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi, held its fifth convocation ceremony on 3rd November 2022. The ceremony was marked open by the Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Chancellor of the University. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Govt. of India, was the Chief Guest.

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) was established in May 2013 vide Delhi State Legislature Act 9, 2012. It was founded as the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in 1998 and was the only constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. In May 2013, it gained autonomy and became the first women's technical University in India established by Govt. of Delhi.
Around 430 Undergraduates, 233 postgraduates, and 17 doctorates were awarded their degrees. 680 Graduates from the academic year 2021 -2022 were present in the convocation. Two Chancellor Gold Medals, 14 Vice-Chancellor Gold Medals to all the toppers of different courses, and 41 Exemplary Performance Silver Plaque were given to students across the years on this glorious occasion. The students who were conferred with the degrees are already working with various corporate and social sector organizations across the country, having completed the program. The Alumni body of IGDTUW is a vast and thriving community of technocrats, senior executives, successful entrepreneurs, and leaders of society. 

“It is matter of proud to acknowledge that the university has achieved the vision of establishing a high quality, research-led institute with focus on Technology, Management, Architecture, Humanities and allied areas for female students. I believe that women graduate of this University are well versed in required technical skills and exhibit honesty, integrity and responsibility in professional task,” said Dr. Amita Dev, Vice-Chancellor of the University. She apprised the gathering about the good placements, Centre of Excellence of AI, Advanced Mechatronics Centre, various societal initiatives like Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Education Mentoring Program, Specially-abled Students mentored by ARISE-USA, various awards won by the University like Best University in North India for Teaching Excellence award, Awards Asia 2022, University Excellence Award, and India Today Ranking, signing of MoUs at national and international levels, various collaborations with industries like University of Malaysia, Perlis, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, National Ping Tung University, Cyber Peace Foundation, Rekhi Foundation, Eaton Foundation, Amazon and many others. Dr. Amita Dev shared about the highest package for an international full time offer bagged by the IGDTUW student, Ms Anahita Singla from Amazon Dublin for 1.2 CR INR. The University is extremely proud to partner with some of the leading names who have extended full time offers for their businesses in India, such as Google, C2FO, Goldman Sachs, Intuit, Uber, Adobe, Amazon and many more. Ms Eva Thakaran, a final year M.Tech- It student has bagged the prestigious FS-ISAC scholarship 2022 of USD 10,000/-. A remarkable appreciation for Ms Asmita, student of B.Arch at IGDTU was she bagged First Runner up position in Glam and Miss India pageant for representing Miss Tourism World 2021. IGDTUW witnessed a journey of accomplishment where the alumnus, Ms Simran a student of B.Tech (MAE) cleared UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020. Ms. Katya Shah and Ms. Vaishali of B.Tech (MAE) brought laurels for IGDTUW by the winning the prestigious Kalpna Chawla Award. Dr. Amita Dev said that IGDTUW has been conducive to pursuing knowledge and research.

Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, marked open the ceremony with his encouraging words. “It is appreciable that the first technical University for Women is growing rapidly and remains committed to produce a talented pool of trained women engineers who could contribute to Nation Building. We have high expectations from IGDTUW graduates that they will rise up to all challenges with the skills and knowledge inculcated at their Alma Mater.” said Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena during his speech. He congratulated the graduating students, their families, faculty and staff of IGDTUW.

“It is heartening to know that the first technical University for Women is providing qualified professionals in diverse fields like Engineering, Sciences, Architecture and Humanities in this new era of technological advancements,” said. Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy. He was an inspiration in his words to the students as well as the faculty.” IGDTUW epitomises the vision of govts and visionary leaders” He exhorted the graduating women to pursue integrity, professional competence and commitment for a successful career and be role models for the fraternity of women.

Currently IGDTUW offers Undergraduate degree in the various disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science and Engineering(AI), AI and Machine Learning, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electronics and Communication(AI), Information Technology (IT), Mechanical & Automation Engineering (MAE),6 Years dual degree in B.Tech. (MAE) plus MBA, BBA and Architecture and Planning (A&P) and offers Post Graduate degree in MCA, MBA and  M.Tech. Programmes, namely- IT(Cyber Security), CSE(AI),  (AI and data Sciences), ECE  (VLSI),  MAE(Robotics and AI) and M.Plan (Urban Planning).IGDTUW provides higher education in cutting edge technology areas for the women of our country. The University also offers Doctoral program in different branches of Engineering and Technology and Applied Sciences. IGDTUW is making forays into newer territories pertinent to higher education in near future.
