Indian Students in the UK to Gain Stronger Support Under New NISAU–ICEF Education Alliance

NISAU UK and ICEF have formed a major partnership to improve transparency, ethical recruitment, and student support for Indian learners in the UK. The alliance will introduce shared quality standards, research, and the world’s first student-focused agent awards.

New Delhi. : A major education collaboration announced in London on Friday is set to significantly enhance the experience of Indian students pursuing higher education in the United Kingdom. The National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK has joined hands with the International Consultants for Education and Fairs (ICEF), a global leader in international education services, to introduce stronger, more ethical, and transparent student recruitment practices.

With India sending over one million students abroad annually, and a majority depending on education agents, this partnership aims to protect students from misinformation and ensure they receive reliable guidance from the moment they start exploring study options to the day they graduate.

A Partnership to Strengthen Standards and Build Trust

NISAU UK stated that the alliance is designed to create a student-first ecosystem that promotes:

  • Ethical and transparent recruitment practices between India and the UK
  • Shared quality standards for students, universities, and education service providers
  • Joint research and policy insights to support better decision-making across the education sector

ICEF CEO Markus Badde said international students “deserve clarity, transparency and support they can rely on,” adding that this collaboration combines ICEF’s global experience with NISAU’s strong advocacy for Indian learners.

Supporting Students Amid Changing Immigration Policies

NISAU UK Founder and Chair Sanam Arora emphasised that students increasingly need trustworthy information as immigration rules and international education policies continue to shift across major destinations.

“This partnership puts students at the heart of recruitment systems,” she said, noting that ICEF’s quality-driven model complements NISAU’s mission to safeguard students from misleading or exploitative guidance.

The initiative also seeks to counter unethical practices by certain agents in India, which have become a growing concern as students navigate complex international admission processes.

World’s First Student-Focused ‘Agent of the Year’ Award

As part of the effort to promote accountability in the sector, NISAU UK earlier introduced the world’s first student-centred Agent of the Year Award. This recognition celebrates agencies that uphold transparency, ethical behaviour, and genuine student support.

The award will debut at the India–UK Achievers Honours in February 2026, where two honours will be presented:

Outstanding Agent of the Year

Highly Commended Agent

According to Arora, the award empowers both students and universities to help identify trustworthy agencies that prioritise student welfare throughout the study-abroad journey.

The February 2026 ceremony in London will bring together leaders from education, government, and diplomacy to strengthen cooperation across the India–UK higher education landscape.
