The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has entered into a long-term strategic research collaboration with Yamaha Motor Solutions India Private Limited, a Yamaha Motor Group company. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at IIT Delhi with the objective of combining academic strengths with industry experience to advance impactful research.
A key highlight of this collaboration is the establishment of the Emerging Technologies and Innovation Lab at IIT Delhi, which will function as a shared platform for co-creation and innovation. The lab will focus on major research areas including artificial intelligence, agritech, healthcare technologies, autonomous mobility, road safety, and robotics. The initiative seeks to strengthen the industry–academia ecosystem and encourage high-value research outcomes.
Prof Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean of Corporate Relations at IIT Delhi, emphasized that the collaboration marks a significant step in expanding opportunities for advanced research and meaningful partnerships. Prof Ashwini K Agrawal, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Delhi, was also present during the MoU signing.
Speaking on behalf of Yamaha Motor Solutions India, Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Singh highlighted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to transforming research into real-world solutions and preparing the next generation of innovators. Senior leaders from YMSLI including Mr Lalit Sharma, Mr Sanjay Aggarwal and Mr Kojiro Iwasawa were also part of the event.
The activities under this collaboration will be operated from a dedicated liaison space at the Research and Innovation Park at IIT Delhi.
