Roorkee : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) got its new director Professor K K Pant. Mr Pant was associated with Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi. "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Prof Pant. I am sure IIT Roorkee will scale great heights under his leadership," read IIT Roorkee's Facebook post.
Ministry of Education in its tweet also wished successful tenure for the newly appointed director. "Hon’ble President of India Droupadi Murmu in her capacity as the Visitor of IITs/IIITs approves the appointment of Directors of IITs/IIITs. Ministry of Education extends best wishes for a fulfilling and successful tenure," MOE tweeted.

President Droupadi Murmu has earlier approved the appointment of new directors to eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Professors of IIT Madras Seshadri Sekhar and Shreepad Karmalkar were appointed as directors of IIT Palakkad and IIT Bhubaneshwar respectively. While Venkayappaya R Desai from IIT Kharagpur's Department of Civil Engineering has been appointed as the Director of IIT Dhardwad, the institute's current director Pasumarthy Seshu has been chosen as Director of IIT Goa.

Others appointed for the top posts include -- KN Satyanarayana (IIT Tirupati), Rajiv Prakash (IIT Bhilai), Rajat Moona (IIT Gandhinagar) and Manoj Singh Gaur (IIT Jammu).
