Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee will host Cognizance 2026, its flagship annual technical festival, from March 13 to March 15, 2026, bringing together thousands of students, innovators, and technology enthusiasts from across the country.

Recognized as Asia’s second-largest technical festival, Cognizance serves as a platform for technological exploration, interdisciplinary learning, and innovation-driven competition. The 2026 edition is themed “Empyrean Technogenesis,” highlighting the transformative impact of technology on society and future development.

The three-day festival is expected to attract over 25,000 participants from more than 3,000 colleges across India. Organized by students of IIT Roorkee, the event has grown into one of the largest student-led technical festivals in Asia.

Cognizance 2026 will feature more than 50 technical competitions and events, including flagship contests such as Armageddon, Flight Fury, Scythe CTF, and InnovWave. Participants will compete for a prize pool exceeding ₹50 lakh.

The festival will also host over 15 industry-led workshops and expert sessions, with participation from leading organizations including Microsoft, Myntra, Meesho, and American Express.

Officials noted that the event will also promote discussions on environmental sustainability, menstrual health awareness, and rural education, encouraging students to use technology for societal impact.

The festival will conclude with its popular Pro-Nights, which traditionally feature performances by renowned artists and cultural showcases.
