The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is expanding its School Connect Programme, offering more learning opportunities for school students. Originally limited to just two courses, the programme now features 10 online certificate courses for students in Classes 10, 11, and 12 across India.

Organized by the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) at IIT Madras, this initiative aims to introduce school students to emerging fields of study. Each course spans eight weeks and includes assignments, along with an optional project, providing students with hands-on learning experiences. Registration for the August 2025 batch is open, and schools can enroll students at code.iitm.ac.in/schoolconnect/ by July 25, 2025. Prof. V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, shared, “At IIT Madras, we believe that early exposure to emerging fields sparks curiosity and nurtures future innovators. By empowering students at this critical stage, we are investing in a future-ready nation.”

This academic year, the programme will be offered in three batches—August, October, and January—allowing students to take up to three courses each year.

The 10 courses on offer include:

• Introduction to Data Science and AI

• Introduction to Electronic Systems

• Introduction to Architecture & Design

• Fun with Math and Computing

• Math Unplugged: Games & Puzzles

• Introduction to Ecology

• Introduction to Engineering Biological Systems

• Introduction to Law

• The Fundamentals of Aerospace

• Humanities Unplugged

IIT Madras also plans to introduce more short-term courses in the near future, covering a variety of subjects to help students explore different academic fields before entering college.

With this expansion, IIT Madras is strengthening its outreach efforts, helping school students gain early exposure to modern fields of study and make more informed decisions about their future.
