IIT Madras Showcases Student Innovations and Startups at Delta Expo 2026

IIT Madras showcased student innovations and startup ventures at Delta Expo 2026, featuring 45+ student teams and 30 early-stage startups.

Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras showcased its vibrant student innovation and startup ecosystem during Delta Expo 2026, the institute’s flagship innovation and entrepreneurship event held on March 14–15, 2026 at the campus.

The event was inaugurated by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the presence of V. Kamakoti, faculty members, entrepreneurs, and students.

Organised by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship IIT Madras, the two-day expo featured over 45 student innovation teams from the Centre for Innovation (CFI) and more than 30 early-stage startups from the Nirmaan pre-incubation programme.

Delta Expo highlighted several startups that emerged from IIT Madras’ ecosystem, including Ather Energy, GalaxEye, Arctus Aerospace, and Inbound Aerospace.

The event featured live demonstrations of technologies across domains such as robotics, artificial intelligence, aerospace, biotechnology, electronics, and sustainable product design.

During the expo, the School of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the IIT Madras Incubation Cell also announced partnerships with leading institutions to launch “Translation Endeavors,” a programme aimed at transforming science-based innovations into commercial ventures through acceleration, seed funding, and infrastructure support.

Officials stated that the initiative will focus on areas including decarbonization, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

The expo also highlighted achievements of student teams from IIT Madras in global competitions, including the Avishkar Hyperloop team, which ranked first in Asia at the European Hyperloop Week, and the Raftar Formula Racing team, which secured second place at Formula Bharat.
